NOTES

This marked OMD's first release (although it was the second time 'Electricity' had been released) on the Virgin subsidiary label DinDisc and coincided with OMD's signing to the label. This release is known as 'The Cargo Studios Version'.

Electricity was one of the first songs that Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys wrote together.

'Almost' had been inspired by The Teardrop Explodes' song 'Camera, Camera' which featured the line "I see a red car, I see a green car". The phrase lodged in Andy's mind and he reworked the idea of travelling to see a loved one by car.

The original thermographed sleeve was replaced on this release by a standard white on black printing.

TRIVIA

The unusual graphics that feature on the sleeve were partially inspired by Andy and Paul's original musical notation style. Unable to read or write music, they adapted a series of symbols, each one representing different instruments.

Martin Hannett is credited under his pseudonym Martin Zero while Paul Collister is listed as Chester Valentino. This name originated from a nightclub in Chester called Valentino's.
