NOTES

The OMD Singles was originally envisioned as a double album which would feature an extra CD of remixes. Budget restrictions meant that only a few remixes were finally produced and released on The OMD Remixes EP. The inclusion of at least one previously unreleased track had also been considered.

The album tracks were digitally remastered and, in the case of the earlier material, mastered from the original analogue recordings. This often meant a lengthy process of rummaging in Virgin's archives to find the original tapes. 'Electricity' benefitted the most from this remastering, so much so that its clarity and production has transformed the track into a practically new version.

'Messages' is actually the 10" extended version.

The biography notes are by music journalist John Wilde.

Due to a production error, the cassette shells were printed on lightweight paper stock so that the inner pages were visible through the cover.

TRIVIA

Despite their appearance, the odd shapes on the sleeve are not computer designs but ceramic sculptures. The 'diode' design was an attempt to represent technology, while the colour stripes were based on human DNA

The original French version of the album included the Sash! Remix of 'Enola Gay' in place of 'Call My Name'. A 2003 reissue in France boasted an additional CD featuring the various remixes originally released in 1998 along with mixes by Mulu of 'Joan Of Arc' and 'Maid Of Orleans' which had also been recorded at the time. The CD also features 2 new mixes by French artists.
